OK folks- If someone asks you to send them money instead of running a credit check for a loan, you are about to be that much poorer. You are better off pawning your jewelry or selling your DVDs.

Jeff, it is a scam. Stay away from them. No non-felon lender asks for upfront money. Never send any money via Western Union.

Sounds like a scam. If you are being sued you will receive process from the court and not a phone call from a collection agent. If you have never had a delinquent payday loan, I'd suspect a scam.

William, while that is often the case, under FDCPA law, there are many more federal as well as state consumer protection laws & statutes, such as FACTA, FCRA, FCBA and many others which protect consumers and should be reviewed by a qualified attorney. Take a look at the giant class action law suits that the creditors have recently agreed to- In class action cases the class generally receives very small sums, i.e. Discover last month with a $110,000,000 loss, where class members receive a whopping $30 each. Your comment is narrow & not relative to the question. People could see it and be swayed to go to some horrible debt settlement program like Legal Helpers or Morgan Drexen. If you have the time to comment and opine on someone's business, you should do vigorous research. People's livelihoods can depend on it. Then report what you find.
